Invest In Our Planet

Every year when April 22 rolls around, the world comes together to celebrate Earth Day. A time to reflect what we consume, buy, where we shop and how our daily actions affect the world around us. Aiming to protect our planet by choosing the more eco-friendly options.

Say No To Single Use Plastics

Bring your cute new tote bag around the farmers market with you. Opting for options that aren’t wrapped in cling wrap, bringing your favourite Frank Green Reusable Cup with you to grab your strong latte on the way to the office. Reducing single use plastics where possible makes a huge difference.

Reduce Your Carbon Footprint

When travelling by bus, train or walking you can significantly limit your carbon footprint. Carpooling with friends when going to an event or meeting up for breakfast. All these modes of transport help significantly reduce the carbon footprint.

Opt For Drying Your Clothes Outside

With sun rays still in full force it’s a great time to start hang drying your clothes outdoors. We all know dryers take up a lot of energy, but why? On average one washed and dried load emits roughly 2.4 kgs of CO2, compared to 0.68kgs per load when hung. Plus, who doesn’t love the smell of fresh air on your clothes.

Eat Sustainably

Next time you’re writing your grocery list, try to think of foods that will positively impact the planet. Eat more plants, opt for the wild caught or organic options. Visiting your local farmers’ market is an ideal way to choose local and fresh produce, while not polluting the air!

Reduce Your Water Usage

As little as 3% of the Earth’s surface is freshwater – in ice, atmosphere and soil leaving only 0.007% available for us to consume. On average, 273L per person daily is used and a staggering over 5000L for the amount of water going into the foods we eat, clothes we wear etc. Limit the time you spend in the shower. Try turning the tap off in between doing washing, bruising your teeth, or cleaning the dishes.

Plant a Tree

This is one of the easiest, cheapest and most effective ways for combatting climate change. We always hear trees are our lungs and boy are they right! Trees are a vital part of our eco-system as they help clean the air we breathe, filter our water and also importantly habitat over 80% of the words terrestrial biodiversity.
