Girl and the Sun was started in 2015 when I saw the need for beautiful and accessible destination styles at an affordable price point. I wanted to create a brand for all women that showcased neutral tones, capturing the feeling of a destination holiday even while at home. After 16 years of working in the fashion industry, it was also about creating something that I couldn't really buy for myself anywhere else.

My goal for Girl and the Sun was to create a meaningful and intentional brand. We strive to produce quality products that can be worn for many years with a message of inclusivity and freedom. We are continually working to improve all elements of the brand with a focus on sustainability and environmental impact and look forward to expanding the Girl and the Sun sisterhood across New Zealand, the USA and Europe.
In 2020 we made a commitment to doing our part for the planet and made a number of changes throughout our business to reflect this. In 2024 Girl and the Sun is continuing to focus on the changes we can make with an emphasis on sustainability. We are committed to limiting our social and environmental impacts through choosing lower impact materials in our product and order packaging.
Your online orders are also shipped in compostable postage satchels, wrapped in eco-friendly recycled tissue paper and all Girl and the Sun marketing materials are also printed on Envirocare 100% recycled paper stock. We will continue to work towards improving our in-house practices to reduce our carbon footprint.
